Large area X-ray detector for WAXS experiments in a vaccum

PCCD-170170 X-ray detection

X-ray detection

The detector is delivered with GdOS:Tb converter phosphor screen. The specified X-ray spatial resolution values have been measured with a 12mg/cm2, ~40um thick converter which absorbs more than 80% of incident 12keV x-rays. The phosphor layer is deposited on a thin aluminized Mylar foil and pressed against the surface of the large end (100 x 100 mm2) of the fiberoptic taper by a thin Beryllium or carbon fiber plate. The phosphor sheet is easily replaceable for the optimization of the light output and spatial resolution for the X-ray energy used in the experiment. The small area of the taper is coupled to a scientific grade CCD by a proprietary optical coupling material.

PCCD-170170 CCD readout control

The CCD sequencer is implemented in a high speed programmable FPGA. The CCD Controller is placed inside the detector head and it operates without interacting with the control computer. All parameters of the CCD driver and readout circuit can be reprogrammed according to application of the detector. The figure shows the programmable parameters of the CCD controller on the map of the CCD. The required values can be downloaded to the CCD controller from the GUI of the detector to set up the operating mode.
